Suggested Lesson Plan Components:

1. A list of objectives or goals for your lesson.

Include goals designed so that the student will:
 
• Learn information, understand concepts, and gain new intellectual skills (improving reading, writing, calculating, or critical thinking)
• Develop psychomotor skills (e.g. "students will demonstrate the use of a microscope")
• Use a learning strategy (e.g. "students will choose to problem solve using a model presented in class")
• Demonstrate positive attitudes toward mathematics and science (e.g. "students will show an appreciation of mathematics in the work place by choosing to read about careers involving math skills")
2. A list of materials used in the lesson (include equipment and consumables).

3. A brief description of activities which students will be completing during the lesson and an estimate of the time to be spent on each activity.


This could include taking notes and responding to teacher questions, participating in whole-group discussion, completing a lab exercise, working in a cooperative learning group, or doing independent written work. Also include any follow-up assignment or homework assignment which you plan.
 

4. A brief description of how student learning will be evaluated.


This might include teacher evaluation of classwork and participation, performance evaluations, homework assignments, quizzes or tests, or learner portfolios. Evaluation should be both formative and summative and be clearly related to the objectives or goals listed for the lesson.
